Services based on effective interventions
One to One Sessions
One to one sessions ensure that your staff can access professional mental health support through remote sessions. We usually recommend between 3 – 6 sessions to allow sufficient time to explore issues that are causing distress and to develop new strategies for coping. The sessions are designed to be supportive, building on existing strengths and coping strategies. We identify goals that clients wish to achieve and design new strategies for working towards these goals. Often this includes looking at unhelpful beliefs that are holding them back.
We use a cognitive behavioural therapy approach to working with thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Clients are encouraged to experiment with, review and adapt the behaviours that they find most effective.
If individual employees are experiencing severe mental illness then a one to one session with one of our occupational therapists will identify if they can be treated within the workplace or whether a referral should be made to the appropriate service. If this is the case, the therapist can write a referral report which helps improve access to specialist support through the NHS.
Workshops and Trainings
These workshops are specific to the issues that you have identified within your company. Trainings and small group workshops can be created as an online resource or delivered in person or virtually. All trainings are flexible and can be developed around the needs of the staff group.
Workshops topics have included:
- How to accomplish more by stressing less
- Developing your team’s confidence
- Building self-confidence
- Coping with failure and mistakes
- Working with the inner critic
- Managing perfectionistic thinking
- Creating a realistic work/life balance
- Building resilience
- Stress management and the stress signature
- The stress vulnerability model
- Understanding adrenalin and performance
- Using marginal gains to improve wellbeing
Mental Health Report writing
Occupational therapists can assess an employee’s mental health and provide a report on their findings and provide recommendations. Our assessments and reports can help employees to access other specialist healthcare services.
Part of the assessment would be to evaluate how their mental health is impacting their performance at work and what options feel most helpful given the context.
The report includes:
- Recommendations for immediate action.
- Development of a longer-term strategy to enable the staff member to stay in work whilst improving mental health and wellbeing.
